South Australia’s feed-in tariff deadline

Rush to apply for generous South Australian feed-in tariff before September 30 deadline. Over the past 5 years there have been many State Government solar feed-in tariffs available for residential & commercial properties across Australia. The South Australian Government has announced that property owners have until 30th September 2013 to apply for the generous solar feed-in tariff. Applications received by network provider SA Power Networks before midnight 30th September 2013 will be assessed for eligibility. If the application is approved the building owner will have till 29th January 2014 to have their system installed and a booking made with SA Power Networks to install a import/export meter.

What homeowners needed to know before September 30

The SA State Government legislated solar feed-in tariff supplied by network provider SA Power Networks of 16 cents per kilowatt hour, plus a minimum retailer payment of 9.8 cents per kilowatt hour is currently available for people that act fast. There is a total of 25.8 cents available under the current scheme. Under this scheme a 5 kilowatt solar system can generate a financial benefit of over $2,400 per annum.

What it meant for solar savings

Interested property owners should ensure they apply for the feed in tariff with a reputable company that is a member of the Clean Energy Council and who are Master Electricians. Founding Director of Future Sustainability Lliam Ricketts said it was also important consumers choose products from quality manufacturers that provide an Australian based warranty service.

With the cost of living becoming an ever increasing burden for families and businesses there has never been a better time to install solar. South Australians have made this abundantly clear with 19.2 per cent of all households now being solar-powered, according to data from consultancy firm CleanTechnica.
