Redflow battery

Brisbane-based company, Redflow are in the release stage of a solar power storage system that has been designed for use in the residential, commercial and the mining sectors. Two new batteries were released in April. The ZBM2 and the ZBM3. The ZBM2 is a 5kW/10kWh battery; also producing 48V and the ZBM3 is a 5kW/11kWh product producing 53V and a 220 per cent increase in energy throughput capacity. CEO of the company Stuart Smith says that “Zinc-Bromide batteries lend themselves to “energy use” rather than “power use”, meaning over a longer time frame rather than the short, sharp bursts required of, say, lithium ion batteries”.

RedFlow is a leading developer and manufacturer of zinc-bromide flow batteries with over 65 systems deployed in the field worldwide. RedFlow's standard 5kW/10kWh ZBM is designed to be integrated into electricity storage systems for a range of stationary applications. The ZBM's specific characteristics of daily deep charge and discharge capability make them ideal for storage of intermittent renewable energy, managing peak load on the grid as well as for supporting off-grid power systems.
